Description

Description: This assay employs a two-site sandwich ELISA to quantitate IL1F10 in samples. An antibody specific for IL1F10 has been pre-coated onto a microplate. Standards and samples are pipetted into the wells and any IL1F10 present is bound by the immobilized antibody. After removing any unbound substances, a biotin-conjugated antibody specific for IL1F10 is added to the wells. After washing, Streptavidin conjugated Horseradish Peroxidase (HRP) is added to the wells. Following a wash to remove any unbound avidin-enzyme reagent, a substrate solution is added to the wells and color develops in proportion to the amount of IL1F10 bound in the initial step. The color development is stopped and the intensity of the color is measured.
Overview: IL1F10 is a member of the interleukin 1 cytokine family. This gene and eight other interleukin 1 family genes form a cytokine gene cluster on chromosome 2. This cytokine is thought to participate in a network of interleukin 1 family members to regulate adapted and innate immune responses.
IL-1F10 shares characteristics of the IL-1Ra family, including key amino acid consensus sequences and a similar genomic structure. By multitissue first-strand cDNA PCR analysis, IL-1F10 mRNA is expressed in heart, placenta, fetal liver, spleen, thymus, and tonsil. The expression in a variety of immune tissues and similarity to IL-1Ra suggest a role of IL-1F10 in the inflammatory response
